1. One thing I found helpful during class today was that we were shown examples of professional examples of stop motion. It was helpful to see how these works were done and what was good about them so that they could help us brainstorm for our own stop motion project.
2. I also liked that we got to work in groups so that we could brainstorm together to think of a better idea. Working with a partner also helped during the process of creating the stop motion project.
3. This was the first time I learned how stop motion projects were created. It is a long process that seems harder than it turn out to be. It was helpful to get the steps broken down so that it was easier to understand what we were doing.

The first professional sound piece I listened to was Terry Fox - "The Labyrinth Scored for the Purrs of 11 Different Cats"
1. I was not sure if this sound piece was different machines and instruments that sounded like different types of cats purring of recordings of actual cats. This piece had a similar timber through out the whole piece. The beginning was more exciting introducing what was coming next. Most of the piece was the same large cat breathing. The amplitude changed as the cat would breathe in and out.
2. I think that the form and intention are married. This piece is about sounds cats make and it used a linear narrative formate. It introduced more recognizable cat sounds in the beginning then moved into cats breathing and purring. The title says "11" cats and I did not here a different between most on the sounds.
3.I think this piece demonstrates the purring and breathing cats make that people may not always pay attention to. I think this piece was also demonstrating the different sounds a cat breathing and purring may sound similar to.
The second piece I listened to was John Armleder - "16 Great Turn-Ons"
1. This piece was a montage of many different electronics being turn on. You can here the different timbers the objects make. You can also hear a change in amplitude between the objects and also when the object is turning to and then in power.
2. I think the form and intention were married in this piece. You could hear the distinction of each electronic that was turned on. The artist also edited the sounds so that you were only listening to the object being turned on not the continuos sound of it on. The title says "16 great turn ons" and you could tell that is exactly what this piece does.
3.I think this demonstrates the amount of electronics we have and use on an everyday basis. I also think it demonstrates the sounds that the electronics we have make and we are used to hearing and don't pay attention to.
These two pieces were very different. The first was much longer and had repetition which the second did not. The first one you could also not really tell the difference in sounds as much as you could in the second. In the first it was a continuos sound and in the second it was many sounds put together and broken up so you knew when it was changing.
The third piece i listened to was 24 Hours of sound in NYC
1. This piece was a documentary. It used a large variety of amplitude and timber. It had different sounds playing. It then told you what you were listening to and had someone talk about it. It was very long trying to get as many different sounds as they could about New York.
2. The form and intention were married. This piece was demonstrating the sounds of New York City. The artist would play a sound and let you recognize it in your own mind then tell you exactly what you were listening to. Then there would be someone who was in the place you were listening to talking about it.
3. This artist chose to tell you exactly what you were listening to instead of just playing a bunch of random sounds and letting you try to figure it out on your own. This piece demonstrated the environments that are around us everyday and all the different sounds we hear on a daily basis.
The fourth piece I listened to was Recalling All Agents Active.
1. This piece was a montage of many different voices. It took parts of what they were saying and broke it all up and repeated what was being said many times. Some sounds were repeated and sped up so that it did not sound like a real voice anymore. It started out slower and there were parts that began to speed up in the middle.
2. The form was a montage repeating one statement people were saying. The form and intention married because it was an announcement being made calling for active agents and the form of this sound piece kept repeating certain segments and also had the different voices of who was making these announcements.
3. I think that this artist was demonstrating the what the people listening to the announcements were hearing when they listened to it. That they had heard it so many times that they knew what they were going to say. I think this artist wanted us to hear the tone of the voices and what they kept saying.
These two pieces were very different from one another. The first one was a very long documentary of sound and place. The second piece was one statement that many people were saying cut up and piled together into a montage and was very short. The second one also had a range of different speeds at which the people were talking or the manipulation of voice. The first was more about environment and the second about people talking.

1. This week in class I found it very helpful to play the balloon volley ball game. I have been getting a lot of work all at once in all of my classes which has made it hard for me to relax and get good ideas. Playing with these balloons seemed silly at first but really helped me to forget about everything else I was thinking about.
2. I also found going on a walk with a friend very helpful because it was nice to get outside and feel the fresh air instead of sitting in front of a screen. This way we could talk about our topics and share our ideas on how we should go about forming them. I found this very helpful especially since it was right after we played balloons before.
3. I also liked that we got to have so much time in class to work on this project. I was very nervous about starting it but once I got going it was fun. I liked that we could show you or Kathleen what we had to far to see if we were moving in the right direction. I am excited to share these next projects.
